Adult Choir
The Nativity Choir is made up of individuals who sing throughout the year. There is a wide age and ability in this group, but all share the common goal of offering sacred music from the heart. The choir’s repertoire spans from chant to modern American and English anthems. In addition to the 10:30 Sunday morning service, the choir sings confirmations, ordinations, Maundy Thursday and two services on Christmas Eve and Easter. The choir goes caroling at Christmas to church members who are homebound or living in assisted living facilities.
The Nativity Choir represented the State of Alabama at the National Cathedral and sang a 30-minute program for the Sunday Evensong Service. This was truly an inspirational moment for the choir and one that will never be forgotten.
The Adult Choir offers opportunities to the community to hear great pieces of music as well as the finest musicians to play and sing it. Members of the community are welcome to sing with us. Several Episcopal Churches in the area participate in the programs. Our Fine Arts Series is presented with no admission to everyone in the community. These presentations are made possible by our friends of the music program. Some of the past concerts (with orchestra) include Faure’s Requiem, Handel’s Messiah, and Vivaldi’s Gloria. We are now beginning our fifth year with our Fine Arts Series and Nativity is very proud to be the only church in Southeast Alabama that offers this rare opportunity to the community.
Membership in this choir is open to anyone willing to invest the time and commitment. This friendly group of people is always happy to welcome new singers. During the summer, choir rehearsal is only on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. During the regular year, rehearsals are every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m..
